A powerful top coal caving hydraulic support is a new type of hydraulic support, which issuitable for top coal caving under the high roof pressure and the working resistance of5200~8000MPa. It is an important equipment for achieving the safety of the thick coal seam and thehigh efficient mining. This type of support has a huge role in the promotion of the use andapplication of the mechanized top coal caving technology in China. It is also a powerfulguarantee for the sustainable development of China’s coal production. As this type of hydraulicsupport is used for the coal working face under the high roof pressure and complex conditions,special requirements are attached to its intensity of the top beam, base and the other major parts.Combined with some special structures on the support, it is difficult to obtain the loadcharacteristics in its working process by using the traditional calculation methods. Therefore, themodern design theory and method have been used to study and analyze the main components ofthe powerful top coal caving hydraulic support, and its mechanical properties under the conditionof bearing the loading and the complex working environments have also been figured out. Theybring important theoretical significance and practical value for mastering the weak points ofmain components of this type of supports, promoting the stent design and perfecting thesupporting performances.Taking ZFS8000/23/37-type of Strength powerful top coal caving hydraulic support for anexample, the frame of three-dimensional solid model is established under the UG environment,through the simplification of the parts and the processing of stent contact surface of the parts.Mesh generation of the model is made by using HyperMesh and a finite element analysis on thesupport is accomplished by using OptiStruct solver. In order to simulate the mechanicalproperties of support in the special conditions, three different loading conditions are taken intoconsideration. Through the loading tests, the detailed stress and displacement nephograph of thetop beam, base, cover beam and other major components under different conditions is obtained.On this basis, Dynamical Modal Simulation Analysis of the top beam and the base of the supportare made by using ANSYS software, and the modal shapes of the top beam and the base hasbeen obtained.Research methods and conclusions in this paper provide the methods and theoretical basisfor dynamic analysis and improved design of the powerful top coal caving hydraulic support.
