Dalian Solid Waste Analysis And Management Strategies

With the rapid social and economic development and continuous growth in people’s living standard, there had been an ever-increasing variety and quantity of solid wastes. Frequent pollution events of solid wastes had brought serious threat to environmental safety and human’s health. As the main open city of Northeast China, the North-eastern international shipping center, the international logistics center and regional finance center, Dalian had achieved a sky-rocketing economic growth and an accelerating pace of urbanization which resulted in increasing solid wastes that became a grave potential threat to its environment, people’s health and sustainable economic development. Thus the systematic management of solid wastes must be strengthened.This article is based on the study of solid wastes managements’ current states and trends of several domestic cities and regions in Germany and the U.S. We analyzed the output, utilization and disposal of solid wastes in Dalian. A large amount of data adopted in the study came from several enterprises and relevant departments of Dalian. The data concerned the output and anticipated discharge of industrial solid wastes, dangerous wastes, medical wastes, e-wastes and imported wastes in different regions of Dalian and we drew a distribution diagram according to the data. We also analyzed the current disposal capability of relevant enterprises and gave advices on their control and management. Focusing on the analysis of dangerous wastes that was more harmful, we planned for the disposal capability and distribution of relevant enterprises on the basis of calculating the output and newly affected area of dangerous wastes according to the enterprises’ scales and development program. This article combined the principles and regulations of solid wastes disposal and the Low-carbon idea on the basis of analyzing relevant data. It also put forward the deficiencies in solid wastes management and disposal of Dalian and advices on wastes control and management. We aimed to provide environmental technological support for Dalian’s sustainable development and references for relevant departments to formulate related management regulations.
