Clinical Research Of Smoothing The Liver And Strengthening The Spleen Methods Combined With GP Chemotherapy In The Treatment Of Advanced Breast Cancer

Objectives:From the two aspects of theory and clinic, the study was to explore theory basis,mechanical and clinical efficacy of smoothing the liver and strengthening the spleen combined with GP in advanced breast cancer patients as well as investigate improvement rate of clinical symptoms, enhancement of quality of life(QOL),relief of side and toxic effects and safety, providing new thoughts and methods for the diagnosis and treatment of advanced breast cancer.Methods:40cases of advanced breast cancer patients were randomly divided into two groups with the randomized-controlled method in which20cases in the treatment group were treated by smoothing the liver and strengthening the spleen decoction combined with GP chemotherapy while20cases in the control group were simply used GP chemotherapy. GP chemotherapy were continuously used two cycles with21days percycle. Cases in the treatment group took smoothing the liver and strengthening the spleen decoction one dose each day during chemotherapy periods. TCM symptom score, kupperman index, life quality score, karnofsky score and other safety indicators such as blood routine and liver&kidney function were recorded before and after the treatment.Result:①Comparison of TCM symptoms:16cases (80.00%) were effective and4cases (20.00%) invalid in the treatment grounp while in the control group7cases (35.00%) were effective and13cases (66.00%) invalid. The treatment group was significantly better than the control group (P<0.01).②Comparison of life quality: After the treatment, the scores of the physical function, emotional function, social function and total quality of life in the treatment group were higher than that in the control group with the statistical significance (P<0.05);The scores of fatigue, nausea and vomiting, pain and appetite loss were lower than that in the control group with statistical significance (p<0.05).③kupperman index:After treatmet, improvement of kupperman index in the treatment group was better than in the control group (P<0.05).④Physical situation:scores in all areas between the groups before the treatment showed no significant difference (P>0.05), which was comparable.60.00%(CR+PR) in the treatment group and35.00%in the control group after treatment showed that patients in the treatment group had better physical status (P<0.05).⑤Safety of chemotherapy:rate of nausea and vomiting in treatment group after treatment was lower than that in control group, with significant difference(P<0.05). Conclusion:Smoothing the Liver and Strengthening the Spleen decoction combined with GP chemotherapy for advanced breast cancer is superior to chemotherapy alone in improving quality of life, TCM symptoms, kupperman index and physical conditions.
