Objective:In order to study the differences between chronic painpatients and healthy controls by resting state functional MRI an voxelbased morphometry.Methods:16chronic pain patients and twenty healthy control willundergo3.0T MRI to get VBM and fMRI exam. Results: Compared with the healthy controls, the result of VBMshowed chronic pain patients with lower grey matter density in the bilateralprefrontal cortex(P<0.001,cluster>100)significantly,without increasinggrey matter and white matter density. The RS-fMRI showed the ALFF ofthe right superior frontal gyrus, right middle frontal gyrus, the rightcingulate gyrus, right insula lobe was significantly increased in chronicpain patients(P<0.005);compared with controls, the patient groupshowed decreased resting state functional connectivity between the VPLand the cortex(frontal, occipital lobe),and increased resting statefunctional connectivity of cerebral areas (Cerebellar, periaqueductal gray, hippocampus). Conclusions:Compared with controls, the prefrontal lobe structureand its function, the default network, the medial pain system changed inpatients with chronic pain, this change may be lead to psychologicalexperiences and emotional responses.
