| At present, the researches on Chinese character learning strategies haveincreasingly become a hot topic in the Academia of Teaching Chinese as a SecondLanguage. However, most of them basically focus on "Descriptive Research" ratherthan "Interventional Research". Teaching Spoken Chinese and Characters SeparatelyModel has been first introduced in the independent Chinese character class in SunYat-sen university, which brings character strategy training into class. The training isconducted mainly in two ways: first, it is carried out dispersedly in each class andlinked with every class’s contents; second, it combines explicit and embeddedinstructions. On the basis of long-term and wide-ranged study on the class which haveused Teaching Spoken Chinese and Characters Separately Model, the thesisinvestigates the influence of the strategy training on experimental group (usingTeaching Spoken Chinese and Characters Separately Model) and the control group(using Speaking-writing Model).The result of the study has revealed that the learners from non-Chinese charactercultural background, who have adopted the Teaching Spoken Chinese and CharactersSeparately Model, are more inclined to use Character Components strategy. What should be mentioned is that the difference of the preference on strategy using liesapparently in the class of beginning level. Therefore, we can infer that the TeachingSpoken Chinese and Characters Separately Model has a distinct effect on theCharacter Components strategy adopted by the learners from non-Chinese charactercultural background, especially on the beginners in Chinese character learning. |
