Syntactic And Semantic Research Of Chinese Placed Verbs

Paced Verbs as a kind of verbs have its uniqueness, which are worthy offurther research in syntactic and semantic aspects.This thesis selects thetypical Placed Verbs as research object, tying to descript the Placed Verbs onits defining,categories,its syntactic and semantic characteristics to fully revealthis kind of verbs.Firstly, we give Paced Verbs a definition, and then we make one syntacticframe to confine the Paced Verbs. Conforming to the Paced Verbs definitionand that can enter the syntactic frame is what we need to study.Afterscreening,we have44Paced Verbs need to study.This paper is divided into four parts.The fist part is about the Paced Verbs’definition and classification.We give Paced Verbs definition as that someonecontrol something, through the action, causing something moving tosomewhere, and occupy a certain position.We set a syntactic frame "NP1+PL+V+NP2" to define the scope of the Paced Verbs, and then accordingto the place with the placed object and placed position, we divide the PacedVerbs into four categories:one kind is "cai, mo, fu" as a representatiion;onekind is with "fang,bai,gua" as a representation;one kind is "cheng,ian, sai" as arepresentation; and one kind is "chan,gai,bao" as a representation.。The second part is mainly about the semantic of Paced Verbs. Wesummarize the semantic features of Paced Verbs as:"control ","cause","shift"and "occupy ", and at the same time we also summarize semantic features ofeach small kind of verbs. Based on the analysis of the Paced Verbs’ command,we found that, filling type and cover type Paced Verbs have two-way controlability, and the other kind don’t have. According to the semantic features, wecan be sure that puting type Placed Verbs are the prototype.The third part is the focus chapter.This chapter analyzes argumentconfiguration and syntactic performance of Placing Verbs.When threearguments are present, it has relatively complete dynamic meaning.Thepatterns Placed Verbs can enter are: NP1+PL+V+NP2, NPI+NP2+V+PL andNP1+movement+V+PL. When two arguments are present, the meaning ofPlaced Verbs is no longer so complete and loss of the dynamic characteristics.At the same time we also simple analysis other arguments co-occur.Finally, this paper focused on the relations of placed events and PlacedVerbs, Placed Verbs’ meaning and argument configuration change and PlacedVerbs’ prototype system. Besides, this paper points out the deficiency of thisarticle.
