This paper mainly studied on the large belt conveyor drive frequency control.The large belt conveyor is the current major type of material carrying in recent year,and being more used in coal, metallurgy, electricity, chemical industry, etc. As theexpending of application, the belt conveyor with large capacity, high speed andlong-distance becomes an important direction of its development. There is a keydevice research on how to design a belt drive to meet these requirements.In the paper, the special nature of the conveyor belt was analyzed, thoughcombining with the load conditions, analysis of its way to start the proposedrequirements. At the same time, the AC motor control theory of development presentsituation at home and abroad was also introduced. The combination of both theoriesput forward the energy saving, efficient, reliable, safe characteristics which can makefrequency AC motor gradually become the priority of the belt conveyor speedregulation control method. Through comparing these theories in recent years, pointthat the vector control methods accurate control has the advantages of fine speedcontrol, which can meet the need of high performance driving with load.Due to the frequency control system will show as an nonlinear system stateswhen carrying the load, which also have some hard-control characteristics liketime-varying parameters, with a large load disturbance, and the system uncertainty,etc. In Vector Control, ASR speed controller uses a fixed parameter conventional PIDcontrol methods, with this control method, the static error can be eliminated well,control accuracy can also be improved, but as to the demerit, the control object shouldhave a precise mathematical model requirements, which has a stricter requirement forthe system. So this method can not be used in the non-linear time-varying system,which can make the system less stable in the start-up phase, the reaction was slow,even made some difficulties in accurate modeling. Therefore, with the load, how to ensure effective use of both vector controlstrategies to improve control accuracy, and also allows transfer function automaticallycorrect parameters in a short time, to improve the soft start feature, in the machineryindustry has a critical study of meaning.The article finally using AMESim/Simulink co-simulation software to build a1140V,80kW belt conveyors and adaptive finite element dynamic model of thevector variable frequency motor drive model, validation of the control system with aload of performance and load follow, both to meet q-axis current is proportional to theload changes, d-axis current remained to prove the feasibility of the entire controlsystem.
