Objectives:To explore the effects of internet intervention with impaired glucose tolerance patients on the self-efficacy, behaviors and blood glucose, and explore the correlation between these variables and the website utilization. Methods:A convenience sample of117people with impaired glucose tolerance were selected from examination center Dongfang hospital. They were divided into a intervention group(57cases)and a control group(60cases) by simple randomization. In term of population sociology, baseline computer use and baseline internet use, there were no significant differences between the two groups(P>0.05). There are significant differences between the two groups in age(P=0.039<0.05). Intervention group received3-months intervention, while control group was not given any measures. The self-efficacy, adult eating behaviors, exercise behaviors and blood glucose were measured before and after intervention. The changes were compared by the mean, standard deviation, independent-samples T test, one-way ANOVA, pearson-correlations.Results:(1) After3-months intervention, the intervention group revealed a statistically significant enhancement compared with the control group in health related eating and exercise self-efficacy (t=17.048, P<0.01)(2) After3-months intervention, the intervention group revealed a statistically significant enhancement compared with the control group in adult eating behaviors (t=22.962,P<0.01) and exercise behaviors (t=15.393,P<0.01)(3) After3-months intervention, the intervention group revealed a statistically significant enhancement compared with the control group in Fasting blood glucose (t=-5.722,P<0.01),2h plasma glucose after serving sugar of intervention group had improved, but there were no significant differences between the two groups(P>0.05).(4) There is a significant positive correlation between the website utilization and changings self-efficacy, and adult eating behaviors, and exercise behaviors, and Fasting blood glucose. Conclusions: (1) Internet-based health management has positive impact on self-efficacy, and adult eating behaviors, and exercise behaviors, and Fasting blood glucose.(2) There is a significant positive correlation between the website utilization and changings self-efficacy, and adult eating behaviors, and exercise behaviors, and Fasting blood glucose.(3) There were many advantages with impaired glucose tolerance patients by internet-based health management, and it is feasible to be carried out in hospital.
