| As Marx J Freed Rendell’s "on art and appreciation" says:"Art is the matter of the mind, so any scientific research must belong to the category of psychology, it may also involve other areas. However, belonging to the category of psychology will never change." At present, the systematic and scientific study of the psychological factors of Xu Wei’s painting is still very deficient at home and abroad, even if it is involved, it is also limited to the surface psychological description of a state of "Mania" in Xu Wei’s character. The author thinks the deep psychological traits causing Xu Wei’s unique freehand impressionistic flower-and-bird painting art creation are not limited to the state of mania. Xu Wei’s art creation psychology consisting of self reconfiguration, mental tension, psychological conflict, psychological relief is a gradual in-depth complete psychological construction process. Xu Wei’s freehand flower-and-bird painting is the media and carrier for our understanding of Xu Wei’s creation psychology. We can think it like that. Xu Wei’s tragedy in life, odd character and painting are all related to its unique tragic life experience, so we take Xu Wei’s life experience as the starting point of the study to examine the personal creation psychology of Xu Wei’s painting art, exploring its inner factors of freehand brushwork style. This article focuses on the research of psychological factors of the four gradual processes of self reconfiguration, mental tension, psychological conflict, psychological relief as well as the influences the psychological factors bring on Xu Wei’s freehand flower-and-bird painting creation and it is not limited to the narrow analysis of his state of "mania". Xu Wei plays a very important role in the history of Chinese painting and he is also the iconic figure of transformation from the medieval times to the modern times. In addition to the reflection of their own "my condition", Xu Wei’s painting also embodies the spirit of the times and psychological traits of the late Ming Dynasty in sixteenth Century. Xu Wei’s freehand flower-and-bird paintings reflect the aesthetic pursuit of the ultimate meaning of life for human and the search for truth, goodness, therefore it has the eternal value of beauty. But there are many similarities between contemporary Chinese painting and that of the transitional period from middle Ming Dynasty to late Ming Dynasty. The art field has the same transformation and reflection. Contemporary painters and theorists focus more attention on the pursuit of the form of painting. However, more and more psychological attention to painters has been ignored. There is an increasing lack of association between art forms and deep thoughts of art. How can we make the "fine art" across time and space constraints eternal? How can we correctly guide the painter to apply the healthy or unhealthy psychological factors into painting? The orbit of human psychology connected with space and time due to its biological, common and inherent attribute becomes the entry point of the discussion of the problem. In general, the exploration of psychological factors of Xu Wei’s painting as well as the grasp of the spirit and the construction of contemporary art has a positive meaning. |
