From The Road During The Action Logic Of Village Aadres

Along with the development of the new countryside construction and the emergence ofthe rural "free political space", village cadre’s roles and behaviors have changed a lot. Thepaper analyzed some particular cases with the rational choice theory as the analysis perspective.By empirical research of Gansu province G county X village’s road construction events, thepaper analyzed village cadres’ action logics and its reasons, trying to get more profound andclear understanding to village cadres roles and behaviors.From trying to getting the chance of constructing road to the whole constructing process,X village cadres always played “rational role” and were very positive. The whole action logicprinciple is " gaining the maximum benefits". They tried their best to do village’s affairs well,meanwhile, the more important thing was to make benefits for themselves. In particular, in thewhole construction process, with all sorts of action strategies, such as building his owninterests network in a village, giving villagers economic substance, and making good use ofcompensation and persons strategy, taking government as backup force when met troubles, thevillage cadres have taken different approaches to different villagers to realize their actionpurpose.The major reason that caused the change of village cadre’s roles and behaviors is thepurpose that supports their action logic. In the study, during constructing road, village cadre’smain purpose is: economic rational-pursuing economic, Political rational-improve rights andstatus; Social rational-win social reputation.
