408UL instrument system is dedicated for land seismic data acquisition with high channel capacity, high reliability and high flexibility, designed and made by Sercel Company, France. Sercel takes the advantage of network concept into its408UL seismic instrument in time. All kinds of devices of the408UL are interconnected to be one entirety adopting internet technology based on TCP/IP protocol, the whole system is one great net. On the spread, LAUXs, LAULs, REMs, LRUs, LL408s play the roles of routers, in charge of route managing, data managing and seismic data acquiring controlling. The central control unit of408UL equals to a node cell, controlling and managing the local seismic net with the system software based on Solaris or Unix software operating system. LAUXs relay the spread consisting of LAULs and FDUs to the central control unit, responsible of managing and powering the line connected with it directly, responsible of managing the next LAUXs sticking to it. On the spread, the LAULs not only take charge of power the FDUs controlled by them, but also control and manage the FDUs to accomplish data acquisition, quality testing and data storage temporarily under the order of LAUXs, and transmit data to LAUXs at last. The central control unit accomplishes data acquiring, data processing and data formatting, send the data to storage devices to save, send the data to display devices for seismic wave monitoring, quality control, data analyzing and comparing on site.Just for the utilization of network structure, all kinds of data transceiver devices keep one routing sheet dynamically for data route managing, so it has extremely flexibility in spread laying and ability to realize all kinds of even complex spread. The method of Detour and snake spread is a powerful tool in the complex exploring areas.408UL supplies plenty of wire devices and wireless devices cooperating together; it can meet all requirements in the seismic data acquisition field.408UL can keep several data records at the same time for data acquiring, data processing, data saving independently with no interference profit from the PIPE data architecture, it can continue acquire seismic data with no time for waiting. Large-scale, high density and high precision seismic data acquiring have more and more been adopted because of more and more advanced technology and the ability of higher instrument channel capacity. At the same time, the oil resources in the world become less and less, so more seismic projects must be located on those complex areas such as mountain areas, river network areas and transition zones. More and more large-scale and super-scale spreads are used for more seismic projects, these spreads are often over5000channels, so the spreads become more and more complicated, detours, snake spreads and mutes are rising more and more by geometric series only in one survey, so the spread parameters setup becomes more and more difficult and need worker more time and more vigor, sometimes it is impossible to setup these parameters, and the parameters setting work become one serious factor to the seismic project. How to solve this problem and exert the potentiality of the408UL is a key problem at nowadays, we have found a new method in which we use Microsoft Office Excel to edit, manage and generate the spread parameter setup files, it can overcome natural weakness of the instrument from the inconvenience in parameters setup, small area in display, time-consuming and vigor-consuming, and easy to make mistakes. It ensures us to further exert the advantage of408UL seismic instrument for high channel capacity, high reliability and high flexibility in the conditions of very complicated area.
