With most of oil fields entering in the later stages of development, reservoir research has been increasingly quantitative, reservoir description requires more fine, it is of great significance to realize reservoir visualization of high precision. The dissertation mainly focuses on applying visualization technology to the field of reservoir geological modeling. During the research, using the object-oriented Open Inventor commercial software to realize three-dimensional visualization and two-dimensional visualization of reservoir geological model, thus realistic graphics are created. Geoscientist and reservoir engineers can directly analyze three dimensional spatial distribution of reservoir parameters, properly evaluate the reservoir characteristics. Thus, reasonable development program of oilfield can be made to obtain the purpose of enhancing recovery.Firstly, the basic theory of the reservoir geological modeling and visualization technology have been analyzed and summarized. The dissertation explains the visualization of the reservoir modeling in two procedures:reservoir modeling and visualization. As for the reservoir modeling, the basic concept and classification of geological model are expounded, and the whole process of reservoir geological modeling is studied. As for visualization, the principle and key techniques of visualization are studied mainly. The specific flow of visualize reservoir geological model is also researched on the basis of visualization of3D data field, and three three kinds of data models expressed reservoir object are mainly summarized.Secondly,the dissertation researches the method and key technology of visualizing reservoir geological model by Open Inventor in depth. The method on how to use Qt and Open Inventor to build the software framework is proposed. Based on the theory knowledge of data model and data structure, all kinds of grids and classes supported by Mesh Viz have been analyzed. Mesh Viz is an Open Inventor extension librariy. In addition, the concrete steps of expressing reservoir data model are summed up. Research above lay a strong foundation for the follow-up development.Finally, through requirement analysis, preliminary design, detailed design and the code for the target system,a new reservoir visualization system has been developed. The software framework is built using the3D graphics softwareOpen Inventor and Qt user interface kit. Three-dimensional scenes are created base on Open Inventor, isoline geological maps are drawed by MeshViz library. The three-dimensional spatial distributions of parameters such as sedimentary facies, porosity, permeability and oil saturation are realized, deprocessing for physical parameters is implemented, the well trajectory information and isopach maps are showed.Through the actual field data, true morphological characteristics and spatial distribution of reservoir geological model have been realized. The system can draw the isoline of geological maps. It highly integrates3D and2D visualization function. The results show that, with Open Inventor,"the reservoir three-dimensional visualization system" has a good reliability, advanced interactive visualization and portability.
