In recent years the numerical control technology is developing rapidly, Numericalcontrol machine types are increasing and the requirement on control speed and accuracy isbecoming higher. Now the numerical control system widely used in the CNC machine toolmarket cannot meet the market requirements with low cost, low power consumption, highperformance at the same time, which Core processor is commonly based on ARM9architecture or X86framework. Especially for the industry which has high requirement onthe interpolation precision and system operation speed, NC system is still mainly inimports.This article in view of the above requirements, developed an embedded NC systemhardware platform based on Cortex-A8+FPGA. The main work is as follows:Based on the study of the hardware structure of the domestic and foreign commonlyused high-grade, low-standard numerical control system and Cortex-A8superiorperformance, Put forward a embedded NC system hardware platform based on Cortex-A8+FPGA.With full using of the high performance and low power consumption characteristicsof the Cortex-A8, FPGA and the proper selection of the peripheral device, designed a highratio CNC system hardware platform, developed the communication interface circuitthrough using the Cortex-A8’s abundant peripheral resources, using VHDL language todesign the control logic of each function module interface, and completing the design ofthe communication protocol when the Cortex-A8core processor visits every sub-modulethrough FPGA.In order to give attention to the system real-time and interpolation speed at the sametime,designed a new multiple spindle fine interpolation apparatus based on the cubicb-spline algorithm,which completed the fine interpolation processing with the characteristics of high speed parallel computing of FPGA after Cortex-A8has done thecoarse interpolation and fine interpolation pretreatment.Completed the PCB design of the numerical control system hardware platform withfull consideration of the electromagnetic compatibility, and tested the function andperformance of the hardware platform.
