Viewed from the resources point, the arable land is an extremely valuable andnon-renewable resource. Because the soilless culture can develope and utilize the arable landwhich can’t be cultivated, the non-renewable arable land resources can be expanded andsupplemented. The soilless technology has profound significance for improving and resolvingthe increasingly serious problem of arable land on earth. The substrates is the core of thesubstrates Cultivation, and the selection of substrates are the key to the success of cultivation. To boron mud and cullet as the main raw material of foam glass as a soilless technologysubstrate materials, The foam glass has good performance, and solves the problems ofenvironmental pollution by recycling the boron mud, It can save a lot of mineral resources. So the prospect is very considerable. In this paper, boron mud, cullet, blowing agent and cosolvent were prepared as rawmaterials of the foam glass, The ratio of boron mud to broken glass, the amount of cosolvent,The addition quantity of vesicant, the components were optimized through the orthogonal testmethods, the bulk density and the porosity ratio was analysised the preparation processparameters were obtained by using the best components, through experiments with thefoaming temperature, bulk density and the porosity ratioat the best rate of deterioration afterthe start; and with the expansion time. The increase in body is at the best start to deteriorateafter. The physical properties of the foam glass such as bulk density, porosity perforated, closed porosity, solid density, the true porosity, water retention and water absorption rate weremensurated by the drainage test, and some important chemical character of the system wasanalysised. The results show that: with the feed composition ratio w (boron mud/cullet): w (borax):w(sodium nitrate): w (calcium carbonate)=35/50:5:7:3, foaming temperature at40min under800℃heat densitycan be prepared for247kg/m3, stomatal opening rate of71.2%,83.6%total porosity, pore size ratio of1:4from the fine soil boron magnesium foam glass matrix. Its good chemical stability, and then one month of immersion in water pH value remained stableat6.5, completely satisfied the conditions of cultivation of substrates.
