During the electric arc furnace steel-making process, the scrap steels are used as primary materials, and the various small amount of alloys and slag making materials are used as accessorial materials. The steel-making of Electric Arc Furnace transfers the electric to heat by the arc between electrode and charging. And these materials are melted in electric arc furnace to produce temperature and composition qualified steel.This paper is based on the110-Ton electric arc furnace(EAF) of Tianjin iron and steel group Lt Cop. The crafts, equipment history, present state and perspective of control techniques of EAF are summarized on the basis of consulting a great deal of documentations.The traditional control mode of the EAF is based on the relay, it can not meet the requirement of the craft development for its slow speed and bad reliability. The application of the PLC for the automation of the EAF is the trend. This paper analyses the development history, present state and perspective of the EAF automatic control system. For the requirement of the EAF craft, the design for the whole project of the control system is presented, and the control method of the electrode regulator is emphatically and deeply analysed. On the basis of analyzing the control principle for the control system, a fuzzy PID control method is designed, and this method is well satisfied the main technology requirement of the electrode regulator, including fast response, high control precision and good practicability. This control method is used in the110-Ton EAF of Tianjin iron and steel group Lt Cop, which has obtained very good result.
