Aim: This dissertation is aimed at investigating peptic ulcer and thebleeding clinical features among hospitalized cases, clinical treatment, prognosis and pathogenic factors. Methods: Retrospective analysis of clinical data of patients withbleeding peptic ulcer from January2010to December2012, investigatingpatients’clinical characteristics, treatment, prognosis and pathogenicfactors.Result: A total of403cases had been selected in this study with299malecases (74.19%) and104female cases(25.81%), the ratio between male andfemale was2.88:1. The average age of the patients was50.08±17.94yearsold, there were129cases(32.01%)from the elderly(≥60years old),263cases(65.26%)from young people(<60,>18years old) and11cases(2.73%)from teenagers(≤18years old).347clinical cases had beenadmitted to hospital with melena complaint,383patients (95.04%) had mildcondition.122patients(30.27%) had gastric ulcer and bleeding symptom,while256patients(63.25%) had bleeding duodenal ulcer,25patients(6.21%)had bleeding complex ulcer; In addition,72elderly patients had bleedinggastric ulcer, which accounted for55.81%of the elderly. There were214non-elderly patients who had duodenal ulcer, which accounted for78.10%of non-elderly.400patients had anti-acid clinical treatment, while394patients had mucosal protective treatment; The patients who hadHelicobacter pylori infection were all given eradicated therapy. Furthermore,209patients (51.86%) had taken non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The rate of blood type O accounted for53.79%of themeasured blood type. Incidence peaked in autumn or winter and fell insummer;263patients (65.26%) had positive Helicobacter pylori. Also, there were170patients (42.18%) who had smoking history, at the same time,94patients (23.33%) who were used to drinking alcohol.(the contents inparentheses are the total number of patients with bleeding peptic ulcerunless indicated)Conclusion: In the study, the patients with bleeding peptic ulcer wereprone to be young and middle-aged people, more males than females; themajority of patients were admitted to hospital with “melena” complaint, and most of the condition was mild. The bleeding duodenal ulcer is themost common clinical symptom, followed by bleeding gastric ulcer. Mostof the gastric ulcer patients are elderly people and duodenal ulcer areusually found on non-elderly people. The acid suppression, gastric mucosaprotection treatment and Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy are themost commonly used clinical treatment. Taking non-steroidal antiinflam-matory drug, type O blood, climate change and gender may be related tothe incidence of bleeding peptic ulcer. And Helicobacter pylori infecti-on,age and history of tobacco and alcohol which related to the incidenceof bleeding peptic ulcer meed to be further research.
