Since the1980s, private hospitals have highlighted in the health care industry in our country. In recent years, private hospitals have developed rapidly, and the number and size of it extend constantly, the relevant reform policies have been introduced gradually. At the present, the most medical institution is state-operated and lots of the private hospitals didn’t develop really and there are various problems. With the deepening of the reform, the private hospital is facing opportunities and challenges, there is a long road to develop and the reform need to be explored and perfected continuously.Objective:In this study, we select representative private hospitals as the research object in Shanxi Province by the way of Sampling Survey. Through consulting literature data, doing field investigation, analyzing the current situation of the development of private hospitals in Shanxi Province, we find the current problem that need to be solved, and do beneficial discussion for solving them. We explore the measures which can requires the new health care reform of private hospitals in Shanxi Province, in order to promote the development of private hospitals in Shanxi Province and even in our country healthy and quickly.Method:1. Literature Study Method:Collecting information related on the development situation of private hospital at home and abroad.2. Questionnaire Investigation:Design and distribute questionnaires, investigate the basic situation of private hospitals, the patient’s and employee’s perception and satisfaction of private hospitals in Shanxi Province, and collect relevant data.3. Depth Interview and Focus Groups Discussion. Interview the head of the private hospitals and the workers of administrative departments for public health, Organize the head of department and medical personnel in private hospitals to have panel discussion, understand their view on existing problems and development strategies, and get inspired in the development of private hospitals.4. Typical Case Analysis:During the investigation, choose typical cases of private hospital reform and explore the experience, carry on the summary analysis.5. Statistical Methods:Analyze, process and quantitative the collected data by statistical methods. Input date with EpiData and Excel. Do data statistical analysis by SPSS13.0software.Results:Through investigation we can conclude that:There are8440private medical institutions in Shanxi Province until2011, including431hospitals, account for5.11%of the total number of private medical institutions, and35.4%of the total number of the provincial hospital. Private hospitals have16904beds, accounted for10.7%of the number of provincial hospital beds. Private hospitals has developed rapidly in Shanxi Province, it can meet the multi-level and diversified demand of medical services in some degree. Some private hospital develop well, set an example for other private hospitals. Most of the private hospitals is smaller, develops slowly and manage badly. There are same main problems:1.The excessive pursuit of economic interests, poor industry image and low credibility;2.The non-standard and poor operation management, The imperfect and lacking supervision system;3.The difficulty of introducing talents, the lack of human resources, and technical strength is relatively weak;4.The policy is imperfect and is not reached the designated position,The fair competition environment is absent.Conclusion:In recent years, private hospitals have developed continuously in Shanxi Province, but it still need to be further guidance and specification, because there are some problems in all aspects. With the encouragement of the new health care reform and the national policy, private hospitals should adapt to the new situation, seize the opportunity brought by the new policy, strengthen its management and construction, pay more attention on the introduction and training of talents, credit management, promote the development on a healthy, sustained and rapid way. The government should guide the private hospitals to develop healthily and continuously, improve the practice environment of folk investment on holding private hospitals vigorously, broaden the folk investment channels, encourage social capital to run medical institutions, optimize the structure of the medical structure, and form a diversified medical pattern as soon as possible to meet people’s multi-level and diversified demand of medical services.
