Jingchu Festival Of Health Care Before The Sui And Tang Dynasties

Jingchu possess enormously rich cultural and historical heritages. In its long-ter m development, a unique and distinctive folk culture has formed. Life cultivation and healt h preservation embedded in festival folk culture are worthwhile for us to explore and use for reference. There are many integrated and overlapped parts among lif e cultivation and health preservation, diet in festivals, disease prevention and entertai nments in the development process, which is particularly obvious in Jingchu. On t he basis of extensive historical data collected, the author attempts to analyze diet and entertainment activities in festivals from the perspective of life cultivation an d health preservation, hoping to dig into the cultural and scientific value of folk a ctivities in festivals in Jingchu from a more professional level."Life preservation", first appeared in "Chuang Tse· Inner Chapter", aims to keep fit and prolong life through exercising the body, regulating diet and adapting to cold and hot weather. Behaviors and activities which can improve the quality of life and prevent diseases are all in the area of life preservation.This paper discusses diet, disease prevention and entertainment activities respe ctively, in which the connotation of life cultivation and health preservation is embo died everywhere. Inheriting and carrying forward the life cultivation and health prese rvation culture in the folk activities is of great practical and social significance, providing new ideas for study on life cultivation and health preservation diet in fes tivals and the development of cultural industry. Therefore, we need to explore and popularize useful content in traditional cultural customs, so that the public can feel the great charm of the traditional festival culture, with the view of better inh eriting the outstanding cultural heritage.
