| Leukemia is one of the most popular cancers in childhood. In China, there areabout fifteen thousand children who have acute leukemia each year. With the developingof medical technology, the survival rate of children suffering from leukemia hasincreased greatly. The time limit of treating leukemia is two or three years. During thisperiod, the children cannot have access to education as peers in the school due to theneeds to accept treatment and the descending immunity for a great mount of medicine inchemotherapy. And the children suffering from leukemia are segregated for a long timeand far away from the normal school life, which suspend their process of socialization.The core of socialization of children is to investigate the process and influentialmechanism of how a person changing to a social one from a natural one. The writerwants to discuss the social service for leukemia from the perspective of socialization.The author develops the writing of paper in a way of combining research for documentsand practical research. As a social worker in Hospital School, the writer gains thefirst-hand data which are vivid, detailed and accurate through five-month observationand participation. At the same time, the author spent a lot of time to collect cases,mainly adopted case the method of depth of case interviews. The interview objectincludes leukemia children in the hospital, children’s parents, doctors, nurses, staff inhospital school and volunteers.Through the interview of leukemia children and other interview objects, the otherfound there are four factors to influence the leukemia children’s socialization process:the changing of family factors and peer groups; far away from school life; accept toomuch medium information. This leads to the following problems for the children: thecharacter and behavior change; life skills degradation; limited social interaction andsocial withdrawal; self cognitive deterioration.
