Yan Chang county lies to the east of Yan An city, and its dialect is in the transition zone between Jin language in north of Shannxi province and central plains mandarin.This thesis is divided into seven chapters.The first chapter introduces the geography, population and history of Yan Chang, and shows the research present situation of Yan Chang dialect, the significance of the topic and the research methods. Then, the part gives introduction to the involving pronunciation partners of the thesis.The second chapter describes the phonetic system of Yan Chang Cheng Guan dialect, including the initials, finals, tone of voice as well as phonology deployment and relationship. Then the thesis analyzes the language flow change of Yan Chang Cheng Guan dialect, including light tone, the constant sandhi of non-reduplicated disyllabic words and reduplicated disyllabic words, rhoic,and the differences between ancient sonavox and ancient falling.The third chapter studies the homophones of the dialect.The fourth chapter analyzes the entering tone characters of Yan Chang dialect, focusing on the modern entering tone characters, the vanishing entering tone characters, the double characters together with the level tone of straight and abrupt entering rhymes in Yan Chang dialect.The fifth chapter compares the Yan Chang dialect with ancient Chinese phonology represented by"cutting rhyme" from the perspective of sound, rhyme and tone. This part first begins with viewing the splitting and integrating of Yan Chang dialect from the angel of ancient Chinese phonology, then reviewing the sources of Yan Chang dialect by comparing it with ancient Chinese phonology.The sixth chapter is the internal comparison of Yan Chang dialect, concentrating on pronunciation differences between Gu Zhen Tong Perturbation words and finals nowadays, the pronunciation differences between Dang-Jiang Perturbation words and finals nowadays as well as the pronunciation and tone differences between ancient Xie round-mouth characters and its pronunciation today. Finally, according to the differences of Yan Chang dialect, it can be divided into three sections.The seventh chapter presents the colloquial variant pronunciation phenomena and voice level in Yan Chang dialect.
