In recent years, with the saturation of domestic and foreign crude steel market, users’demand for the quality hot-rolled strip is increasing. Followed by the quality indicators of strips continue to rising, while the precision of the strip width is one of the important part to determine the product quality. Improving the accuracy of the strip width not only means an increase in the rate of finished products, but also to make downstream customers of hot strip have a better raw material base. So the study of hot strip width automatic control technology for the production has an important role in guiding practice. The background of this issue is upgrading the control system of a narrow strip’s hot rolling production line, with which to study the automatic width control system of roughing area.Firstly, based on the fundamental theory of the width of control, and the existing equipment and process requirements, the instructions of the original automatic width control strategies, principles and implementation of RF-AWC and of SSC were gave. According to the mutation characters of the control model, which is noted as mansard SSC,a control model of conic-curve based on Lagrange polynomial was proposed. Simulation results show that the model of the head and tail of the loss by a wide amount of suppression is better than two mansard.Secondly, make a qualitative analysis of Inherent drawbacks and limitations that exist in the rolling force feedback automatic width control (RF-AWC).Then derivation RF-AWC inherent reason of pseudo-feedback phenomenon in the adjustment period. And find the range of the RF-AWC control model in the edger rigidity using the value of the convergence domain. Meanwhile a new automatic Width Control Model called D-AWC is proposed.
