The Study Of Kunming Urban Ecosystem Health Assessment

Urban ecosystem health assessment is defined to adapt to the demands of urban sustainable development and human health. Urban ecosystem health is necessary for human survival and development. It is an important subject on domestic attentions and foreign to maintain a healthy urban ecosystem, and to promote the sound cycling of the urban ecosystem.This study was to explore the building of Kunming urban ecosystem health assessment index system and its practical application, aiming at provide more objective and scientific judgement on Ecological City construction, urban planning and so on. We built the urban ecosystem health assessment modeling, synthetically assessed the urban ecosystem health condition in Kunming, identified the stress factors on Kunming urban ecosystem health, and made the reasonable optimization and management measurements. It is very important to promote the construction of Ecological City in Kunming, to coordinate the man-environment relationship and to make the sustainable development of urban ecosystem come true.Based on the domestic and international researches on urban ecosystem health assessment, we determined the concept of urban ecosystem, structure, function used in this study, analyzed comparatively major methods of urban ecosystem health assessment both at home and abroad. VORSP (Vapor-Organization-Resilience-Service Function-People Health) framework, the most widely used in urban ecosystem health assessment, was used in the study. Applied with the Fuzzy Synthetic Evaluation Model, we chose the objective weight determination method-the Coefficient of Variation method to determine each index weight, and the subjective Average Distribution method to define the weight of five different elements in the assessment system.Finally, this research selected 28 indicators, established the assessment index system of ecosystem health in Kunming. Based on the domestic and foreign related standards about urban ecosystem health levels, urban ecosystem health in Kunming divided into five grades. Then according to subordinate function, we calculated a total of 12 years of subordinate-degree matrix from 2002 to 2013, and assessed the urban ecosystem health status on the time series in Kunming by fuzzy mathematics method. We analyzed the causes of variation of Kunming urban ecosystem health and put forward the corresponding measurements and suggestions in order to provide some helpful thinking for the ecological health development of Kunming in the future.
