The Urban Ecosystem Health Assessment Of The Henan Province

Cities are the product of human social, economic and cultural development ,and the most complex ecological types. The urbanization process accelerating already caused a series of ecological problems which threat human survival and sustainable development. The problems we must solve are to restrain the deterioration of the ecological environment and use rationally effective resources. As the new ideas about ecology, the theory and methodology of ecosystem health is used to study urban ecosystem. The disadvantage can have found. The human activities which make urban ecosystems pathological can have corrected and adjusted. This provides management mechanisms and approaches of ecosystem to make cities to maintain good ecological environment when of high-speed development.This article summarizes the content of ecosystems and urban ecosystems and the methods which were generally used in recent years. On the basis of the analysis, The article use principal component analysis and analytic hierarchy process to build the indicator system on vigor, resilience, organization, maintenance of ecosystem services and human health, then to establish their weighing, and to assess through mathematical models for urban ecosystem health. The original data come from the statistical yearbook and government environmental notice. Based on this study, it receives the track changing of the ecosystem health about Zhengzhou City in 1999-2004 and compares the urban ecosystem health level of 18 cities in Henan Province in 2004. Reached the following conclusions:1. besides of 2002, the healthy level of Zhengzhou City is a upward trend in six years. The health of the elements is constant progress. The vigor is the largest elements increasable. It shows that a lot of energy and money is devoted to increase GDP and the much foreign capital is shown into the Zhengzhou City. The level of health of the organization is fluctuations. This had a great relationship with a few elements of the professional and technical staff and the weight of tertiary industry. The change about the sum of membership over critical condition is modest in resilience annually. The sum is almost equal in the previous three years. The largest gap is in the 2004. From this, we can see that the government pay more attention to urban environmental protection and sustainability, put a lot of financial resources to develop the processing of pollutants and recycling, and makes society more harmonious.
