With the development of the national economy and the improvement of the output and variety of steel products, the new type of steel rolling equipment is particularly important. At the same time, due to China’s "transformation and development" 、 "energy saving" and other policy objectives,advanced rolling equipment is particularly wanted. On the basis of comprehensive analysis of the research and production of the traditional steel mill, this paper presents a new type H steel universal mill. This new mill can effectively improve the production efficiency, save the investment cost of the equipment, and reduce roll-wear. The issue is the need of transformation and development of the rolling equipment, it is also the need of energy saving and consumption reducing, so it is necessary to put forward this new type of steel.This thesis mainly focuses on the design and research of the key mechanism of the new type mill. The main contents are as follows:(1) A new type of H steel universal mill is proposed in this paper, which is based on the transformation of H type steel rolling equipment. It can realize the centralized transmission of the four rollers, and also can accomplish the independent adjustment of the screwdown of each roll, so as to compensate the wear quantity and realize the precision rolling.(2) In this paper, the principle of rolling and adjustment of new universal mill is introduced, and the key parts of the new H universal mill(cross beam, bearing base, roller, bevel gear, etc.) are modeled and assembled by using three-dimensional software SolidWorks.(3) Because of the high degree of symmetry of the mechanism, as well as the fact that the draught pressure of horizontal roll is greater than vertical roll, in this paper, the finite element analysis is carried out on the 1/4 assembly, and the deformation of the part is analyzed by ANSYS Workbench software.(4) Aiming at the disadvantages of the original design in the complex assembly and disassembly, this paper has carried on the improvement to it. And then the 1/4 part of the modified assembly is analyzed by finite element analysis, and the results are compared with the original mechanism. On this basis, the multi-objective optimization of the improved mechanism is carried out by Workbench.(5)After the operation of the equipment, it will be used to avoid the resonance phenomenon. The Workbench software is used to carry out modal analysis of the 1/4 part of mechanism. The first six order natural frequency and vibration mode of the mechanism are extracted. These works have laid a foundation for the study of the dynamic characteristics of the mechanism.
