Titanium sponge is an important material in the production of titanium industry. In the existing titanium ingot production,the welding of pressed titanium sponge block in the welding chamber filled with an inert gas is an important step. However,low production efficiency,high production cost,complicated production process and other issues are prominent. The experiment has done is intended to replace titanium ingot rolling process in the production of welding process,realizing simple production process,reducing the production cost and improving efficiency. But the sponge titanium rolling is a new subject,and there is no similar experience can be followed. In this context,the titanium sponge rolling experiments and simulations have carried out to study,completed the following contents:1. The sponge titanium direct rolling experiments and suppress-rolling experiments have done. In the suppress-rolling experiment,different sizes, pressing force and reduction comparative experiments have done.Obtained that under the experimental conditions, the 10mm particle size of titanium sponge block by 600kN pressing force pressing, in 50% of the reduction can be realized under a good composite. The deformation can be reduced to about 30% by changing the shape of preform and increasing the pressing force to 800kN.2. The pore and deformation of titanium sponge,preform and rolled billet by using metallographic and SEM have been done.(1) In the suppress,there is a substantial reduction of titanium sponge pore. In the rolling, there is a smaller reduction of preform. Because of the large thickness and pore, the deformation can not be deep into the heart, and the more pore numbers the phenomenon is more obvious in the rolling.(2) Having founded that C,O, Si elements enrichment in the composite interface through the composition analysis of section and a good removal effect can be achieved by 4% hydrochloric acid immersion.3. Having determined some stress-strain curves of different density and the finite element simulation has been done.(1) Very good mesh effect by combining grid free partition and mapping division through dividing model has been obtained.(2) The deformation degree in the center of different porosity and reduction through simulation and experiments has been analyzed.4. A brief calculation job of rolling force and power has been done according to the experiment data and the actual production needs.The research work of this paper has accumulated basic data for the particle rolling.
