With increasing attention has been paid to environment protection by government, sewage treatment works was becoming more and more concerned. According to extension project of and practical application need for sewage treatment plant in a Guangzhou, an automatic control system for sewage treatment what was based on industrial networks technology was exploited in this paper. That has a certain practical significance to improve the application of automatic control system.A complete and reliable control system has been designed for the sewage treatment system through a combination of the industrial automatic control technology, computer technology, network communications technology and the monitoring & control process for sewage treatment. The whole control system was made up of PLC, various field bus meters, sensors and various executing agencies. Automatic control of the whole sewage treatment system was realized through the powerful data acquisition function, control functions of PLC, and data communications through the industrial Ethernet fieldbus technology with the graphical configuration software monitoring. By improving the automation level of sewage treatment facilities and optimizing the process for sewage treatment, the goal to reduce the workload and improve the efficiency of sewage treatment can be reached. In the thesis, the current status and development of sewage treatment automatic control system were analyzed. The sewage treatment processes, and the requirements of automatic control were put forward, based on this, an analysis and study was carried out on currently popular technologies including field bus, industrial Ethernet and configuration software, PLC. The whole automatic control system for sewage treatment was divided into three layers —control, monitoring and management. And what were discussed in detail was the data processing, information communication means between different facilities (OPC application), the combination of the control network and the information network. The design of the programmable controller system and the application of the configuration Software in a Control system were discussed.Application results of the sewage treatment system show that the lairized control model for wastewater treatment was reliable and suitable. The control accuracy of technical performance indicators met the actual needs of production. The quality requirements of emission water be treated was met.
