Forging hydraulic press is the key equipment in heavy machinery, and play an important role in the mechanical manufacturing industry. Nowadays, forging hydraulic press transmission is mainly divided into valve-controlled and pump-controlled. With energy crises aggravating, green forging gets more and more attention and pump-controlled technology becomes the focus of current research with its energy-saving advantage. Compared with the proportional valve-controlled system, the closed circuit pump-controlled system and direct drive volume control electro-hydraulic servo system, the open circuit pump-controlled forging press system is better to reduce the installed power, the cooling and fill oil system and to simplify the system structure, and energy saving effect can be improved significantly. At the same time, it retained the advantages of the fast responding, high precision and strong stability of the traditional system. Further, simple close-loop control strategy for forging hydraulic press system is unable to balance control precision, forging rapidity and energy consumption characteristics. In order to solve above issue, this paper puts forward to the separate control of actuator square-cavity method of the main cylinder position control and the return cylinder pressure control, The control precision is be improved distinctively and energy consumption almost remains unchanged. For forging industry, the application of the open circuit hydraulic pump-controlled forging press system to the free forging, die forging, multi-ram forging and other equipment has positive practical significance.For forging hydraulic press system, this paper proposed the separate control principle of actuator square-cavity of open circuit hydraulic pump-controlled forging press system. The separate control of actuator square-cavity mathematic models of the main cylinder position control and the return cylinder pressure control are established, and the coupling effect of the main cylinder system and the return cylinder system is analyzed. Then, the feed-forward synchronal compensation decoupling control method is proposed. At the same time, AMESim simulation model was established to study the control characteristics of position feed-forward compensation decoupling and the characteristics of separate control of actuator square-controlled system.Based on 0.6MN pump-controlled hydraulic forging press experimental platform, the experiment of pump-controlled hydraulic forging press separate control of actuator square-controlled system not only research the control precision and energy consumption characteristics but also verify this method effectiveness. The proposed method can achieve high precision position control as well as good energy-saving, and the experiment results are consistent with simulation.
