Objective To study the relationship between serum YKL-40and riskfactor in patients with Metabolic Syndrome. Methods Serum YKL-40were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbentassay in40cases with metabolic syndrome、73cases without metabolicsyndrome and23health subjects. In all subjects,no risk factor group(n=23),one risk factor group(n=43),two risk factor group(n=30),three riskfactor group(n=28),four risk factor group(n=12).Results The levels of serum YKL-40(ng/ml)were significantly higherin patients with MS than that in patients without MS or the normal controlsubjects(94.51±35.80>51.77±14.41>31.30±14.61,P<0.01),Serum YKL-40level was positively correlated with the number of risk factors of MS,serum YKL-40increases15.020ng/ml for Each additional risk factor.Multiple factors regression analysis showed that YKL-40were positivelycorrelated with blood glucose and body mass index. The seriousness of thesingle risk factor analysis showed that fasting plasma glucose,BMI,TG,HDL-C,smoking,systolic blood pressure, uric acid had greater influenceon metabolic syndrome. Conclusions The levels of serum YKL-40were significantly elevatedin MS patients, the more risk factors, the higher level of YKL-40.
