Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of arthroscopic cleaning operationaccompanied with traditional Chinese medicine extracts of partially superconductingpenetration treatment for knee osteoarthritis. To elucidate the feasibility of this method fortreating knee osteoarthritis preliminarily. To provide a effective method and theoreticalbasis for treating knee osteoarthritis combining the traditional Chinese and Westernmedicine.Methods:82patients (99knees) with osteoarthritis of the knee were randomlydivided into two groups, the compared group (40cases,48knees) was treated witharthroscopic cleaning operation merely, the experimental group (42cases,51knees) wastreated with arthroscopic cleaning operation and the traditional Chinese medicine extractsof partially superconducting penetration treatment from the3th day after surgery,2times aday, every30minutes,2weeks a course,2courses of continuous observation. The score ofknee joint in the two groups about the functional situation were compared before surgeryand at the2nd week, the4th week and the3rd month after surgery according to the HSSknee function scoring criteria. Results: All patients were followed up, the functional score in the two groups aftersurgery were significantly higher than that before surgery(P<0.05), The excellent and goodrate after treatment for3months in the experimental group was higher than that in thecompared group (compared group was81.3%and experimental group was90.2%). The score of the experimental group according to the HSS were higher than that of thecompared group after surgery for the2nd week, the4th week and the3rd month in theaspects of walking function, paining degree, activity degree and muscle strength and so on.Conclusion: The clinical efficacy of arthroscopic cleaning operation accompaniedwith traditional Chinese medicine extracts of partially superconducting penetrationtreatment for knee osteoarthritis is superior to that of knee arthroscopic cleaning operationonly.
