Clinical Observation On The Treatment Of Functional Constipation By Tiao Gan Tong Fu Decoction

Objective:To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of Tiao Gan Tong Fu decoction in the treatment of functional constipation of TCM qi stagnation type,and change of symptoms after treatment. Evaluate Tiao Gan Tong Fu decoction in the treatment of functional constipation of the effectiveness and feasibility from two aspects of modern medicine and traditional Chinese medicine theory, and provide data for clinical application of Tiao Gan Tong Fu decoction. Methods:1. A total of 60 cases of patients with functional constipation were selected from department of spleen and stomach, Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hubei Province from May 2013 to Jun 2014. These patients were diagnosed with functional constipation and the diagnosis of TCM is Qi stagnation syndrome. According to the treatment sequence, they were divided into 30 cases both in the observation group and control group. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups of patients in terms of gender, age, course of disease, total score of symptom before treatment(P>0.05).Compare the efficacy through a comprehensive analysis of the clinical efficacy of two groups, symptom improvements, defecation interval time, onset time, and recurrence rate.2.The observation group took Tiao Gan Tong Fu decoction(trichosanthes kirilowii 15 g, bupleurum 12 g, citrus aurantium 10 g, dried tangerine peel 10 g, areca catechu 10 g, Magnolia officinalis 10 g,radix 10 g, white peony root 12 g, bergamot 10 g,radix polygoni multiflori 10 g, fructus cannabis 12 g, almond 12 g, plum seed 12 g,fried licorice 6g). Oral administration according to the following rule: one decoction for 2 doses a day,half an hour before breakfast and dinner, 200 ml each time. The control group took Si Mo Tang Kou Fu Ye, 10 ml each branch, 2 ampoules each time, 3 times a day. The two groups were both treated for 4 weeks.3.Statistic methods: SPSS21.0 statistical software used for data analysis; X2 test used for count data, t test used for measurement data,two-sided test, when P<0.05,it is considered with differences and with statistical significance. Results:1. After 4 weeks of treatment, the results of observation group: the total effective rate was 93.33% and markedly effective rate was 73.33%. The results of control group: the total effective rate was 73.33% and markedly effective rate was 43.33%. There was significant difference both in the effective rate and markedly effective rate between the two groups(P<0.05). It showed that the observation group was more effective than the control group.2.Each group showed effectiveness in improving the symptoms after the treatment(P<0.05). Compared with control group,the observation group had better curative effect after the treatment(P<0.05). For both groups, all of the symptoms were improved after 4 weeks treatment compared with before treatment. After the treatment, the observation group had better curative effect than the control group in abdominal pain and distension, bowel flatus, difficulty of defecation, defecate character and affect mind dissatisfaction(P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in improving eructation and loss of appetite(P>0.05).3.After 4 weeks of treatment, the defecation interval time of observation group was(1.53±0.41)days, while the control group was(2.18±0.99)days. Both groups showed improvements in defecation interval time after treatment(P<0.01), and the observation group had better effect than the control group(P<0.05).4. For the observation group,the average time of the first medication to the first stool required(31.80±14.71)hours, while the control group required( 42.80 ± 15.17) hours. There was significant difference between the two groups(P<0.01). It showed that the time to be effective of observation group was shorter than the control group.5. Three months after the treatment, the recurrence rate of observation group was 11.11%, while the control group was 38.10%. There was significant difference between the two groups( P <0.05).The results showed that the long-term effect of the observation group is better than the control group. Conclusion:Tiao Gan Tong Fu decoction have obvious curative effect and canimprove clinical symptoms. The decoction have many functions,such as Regulating the nervous system, Promoting digestion andabsorption, regulating gastrointestinal movement, improvinginner environment of intestine, lubricating lumen and softening dry feces. The decoction has definicate curative effect and low recurrence rate. It is clinically safe effective prescription.
