Objective: In order to investigate the clinical effectiveness of "Zhishi Dao Stagnation Decoction" in treating children with damp-heat and food-stagnation constipation,as well as the clinical safety and mechanism of action of traditional Chinese medicine decoction in the treatment of children with functional constipation,a study of the physical distribution of children in Chengdu city who have functional constipation was conducted,so as to provide theoretical support for extensive clinical application.Methods:1.A questionnaire survey was conducted among children with functional constipation who visited the outpatient department of Zhao Qiong,Between December2021 and December 2022,he was the chief physician of the Pediatrics Department at the Sichuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and spent a lot of time there..2.Children who were diagnosed as having dampness-heat type constipation consistent with dampness-heat food stagnation type and were admitted to the outpatient department of Chief Physician Zhao Qiong,Pediatrics Department of Sichuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from December 2021 to December 2022 were randomly divided into two groups. The control group received "ltose" treatment for two weeks whereas the experimental group received "Zhishi Daozhi Decoction" treatment. The effectiveness was assessed, and the successful patients were checked up on two and four weeks after the completion of the course of treatment to assess the efficacy over the long term. Results:Study 1:(1)A total of 150 valid questionnaires were collected. The statistical results showed that the TCM constitution of children with functional constipation in Chengdu area was related to age(P < 0.05),but not to gender and course of disease(P >0.05).(2)In Chengdu, the majority of children with functional constipation were biased, with a total of 104 cases, accounting for 69.33% of the total number, and 46 cases with mild constipation, accounting for 30.67% of the total number.Damp-heat quality was the most common in 44 cases, accounting for 29.33%,followed by Yin deficiency quality in 19 cases(12.67%),phlegm-dampness quality in 13 cases(8.67%),Qi deficiency quality in 11 cases(7.33%),characteristic quality in 9 cases(6.0%)and qi stagnation quality in 5 cases(3.33%).There were 3 cases of Yang deficiency(2.0%)and 0 cases of blood stasis(0%).(3)TCM constitution and syndrome type of children with functional constipation in Chengdu area have a certain correlation: peace quality and qi deficiency,qi stagnation constipation,damp-heat quality,phlegm-damp quality and food accumulation constipation,Yin deficiency quality and dry heat constipation,qi deficiency quality and qi deficiency constipation.Study 2:(1)Before treatment, the test group and control group had no statistical significance in gender, age, course of disease, and scores of primary and secondary symptoms(P > 0.05),which was comparable.(2)After 2 weeks of treatment, the comparison of TCM syndrome scores in the two groups was statistically significant(P< 0.05),and the comparison between the two groups was statistically significant(P <0.05).(3)After 2 weeks of treatment, the comparison of scores of clinical symptoms in the two groups had statistical significance(P < 0.05),and the comparison of scores of major symptoms such as frequency of defecation difficulty, stool characteristics, defecation time and defecation frequency and single symptoms such as poor appetite, nausea and vomiting, and halitosis between the two groups had statistical significance(P < 0.05).The results indicated that after 2 weeks of treatment, the experimental group was better than the control group in reducing the scores of the above clinical symptoms. After 2 weeks of treatment, there was no statistical significance between the two groups in dropback and distension, abdominal distension pain, and hand-hand-heart heat(P >0.05).It is suggested that the treatment effect of the above symptoms in the two groups is similar. At 2 weeks and 4 weeks after treatment, the long-term treatment effect of the experimental group was better than that of the control group.(4)After 2 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of the experimental group and the control group was90.48% and 72.72%,respectively,with statistical significance(P < 0.05).It can be seen that the experimental group had better effect than the control group in reducing TCM syndrome score and relieving constipation symptoms.Conclusions:1.The traditional Chinese medicine constitutions of children with functional constipation in Chengdu area are mainly biased constitutions, and the biased constitutions are mainly damp-heat.2.Zhishi Daozhi Decoction in the treatment of dampness-heat food stagnation constipation in children is superior to western medicine alone, and its clinical efficacy and safety are good, which is suitable for clinical promotion and application.
