With the rapid growth of China’s economy and further acceleration of newindustrialization, the rail transportation industry’s demand of high-quality talents isgrowing. The cultivating of high-quality and skilled talents in secondary railwayvocational school plays an important role. Chinese, as a crucial cultural basic course withrich cultural inside story and human connotation holds a significant position in the wholemajor course system. However, through8-year-teaching practice in secondary railwayvocational school, the author observes that students are not fond of learning Chinese,having no interests in Chinese, and besides, employ poor basis, low self-efficacy, poorstudy habits and methods of Chinese learning, which with no doubt give rise to thefading of learning motivation in Chinese. As a result, the motivation of learning Chineseof students studying in secondary railway vocational school needs stimulating andimproving.This paper is divided into four parts to discuss the motivation of students insecondary railway vocational school to learn Chinese. In the introduction part, thebackground, reasons, and significance of choosing this topic are presented as well as thediscussion of Chinese learning motivation and the research methods.In the first chapter, the implication and meaning of Chinese learning are presented.The author firstly proposes the definition and meaning of learning motivation andChinese learning motivation respectively and then elaborates the meaning of motivationto learn Chinese for students in secondary railway vocational school from three aspectsincluding the advantages in learning professional knowledge and skills, professionalquality and cultivating healthy personality.In the second chapter, through investigation, the author realizes the status ofChinese learning motivation of students in secondary railway vocational school andanalyzes why these students lack enthusiasm in learning Chinese from exterior andinterior.On the basis of analysis of the reasons lacking enthusiasm in leaning Chinese inthe first two chapters, the author attempts to propose some countermeasures andsuggestions to stimulate these students to learn Chinese, that is first to optimize andactivate the external environment and then to make use of some practical methodsconsidering the school education and students themselves.
