The paper focuses on difficulties for Tibetan students English study, such as difficulties in inter-cultural communication and code switch. The paper also focuses on which factors influence their English study and tries to provide a series of corresponding countermeasures, meanwhile provide a feasible model for other ethnic area’s English study.The paper will use students in Gansu Normal University for nationalities as a sample, using observation method, interview method, questionnaire method and the literature material law to collect the relevant data about basic background information and English studying of students in Gansu Normal University for nationalities. The writer hopes to know and understand well difficulties and problems for Tibetan students’English study, and analyzes influence factors of difficulties for Tibetan students’English study based on the theories of English linguistics, pedagogy and psychology. To sum up, there are these influence factors:Society and the schools provide insufficient investment, lack of trilingual teachers and trilingual teaching materials, the influence factors in students themselves, interference of languages and culture.The paper finally put forward some coping strategies for these problems:making good efforts to train trilingual teachers, developing school-based teaching textbooks actively, strengthening to stimulate students’emotional factors, using mother tongue’s positive transfer actively and reducing it’s negative transfer, experiencing the diversity of culture and so on.
