Confucianism And Reconstruction Of Culture And Life

He Lin, as a representative and the first scholar to put forward "new Confucianism", is known as the first generation of new Confucian together with Liang Shuming, Feng Youlan, and Xiong Shili. From the perspective of philosophy, this paper tries to review He Lin’s early cultural philosophy by identifying the new Confucianism he reconstructed concerning both culture and life, and to provide suggestions for the development of contemporary Chinese cultural.By reviewing cultural issues, He Lin raised an unique view of developing Chinese cultural:valuing the inheritance while conducting the creative transformation of Traditional Cultural, and achieving development of Confucianism based on the complete understanding of Western culture. He argued that Confucianism should be open and draw the essence from other approaches of Chinese philosophers. Moreover, He realized that the development of academics is essential for achieving national prosperity. Knowledge is the power to reform life, thought and culture. As Confucianism was challenged by New Culture Movement in modern China, He Lin went through the reasons for the changes and sorted out their profound influence on culture development. Furthermore, He set up the modern moral culture with a new interpretation of traditional Confucianism concepts to meet the contemporary morality, and guide the development of Chinese cultural by philosophical thinking of practical cultural issues.Through his philosophical thoughts on life, He Lin believes that, for new Confucian, the construction of civic virtue includes rationality, timeliness and humanity is necessary. He also discussed pairs of critical relationships in life. In his work, he pointed out the effect of faith and ideal on practical life, proposed to face it with a natural and optimistic attitude and reform it with "rational spirit". He further argued that Confucianism could be as influential as western religions in moral building.Through the research we know about He’s early mind has a new way to development culture. He’s discussion reflected integrate theory with practice. He’s mind had forward-looking, which is referential significance for culture construction.
