The source text of this translation practice is from Chinese Swordsmanship(Jianshu), which is edited by the Wushu Research Institute of the General Administration of Sport of China. The author chooses the first two chapters as the source text. In the process of translation, the author mainly uses the theory of Informative Text as guidance. The main purpose of the informative text is to tell the readers some information or knowledge. Therefore, taking the system of language acquisition of the target readers into consideration, the author adopts communicative translation as the main strategy in this translation practice.The translation report includes five sections. The first section is a brief introduction to the original text, the translation requirements and the meaningfulness. The second section describes the process of translation, including preparation, procedure and revision. The third section is the analysis of cases. The author chooses some typical cases in this text to analyze the application of the informative text theory and the communicative translation. Besides, many translation methods are discussed in this section. The fourth section shows the author’s reflection on this translation practice. The last section is a general summary of this translation practice.This translation practice plays a key role in the learning of MTI for the author. The task makes the author not only improve her ability in translation, but obtain further understanding of translation.
