Research On Vocabulary And Its Culturein The Dialect Of Shantou,Guangdong Province

This paper researched Shantou dialect on the basis of comprehensive investigation of Shantou dialect vocabulary. In order to study the characteristics of Shantou dialect, this paper tried to get Shantou dialect sources in Longitudinal study while it compared Shantou local vocabulary with Mandarin vocabulary. Cultural Linguistics theory was also used to deeply mine in the dialect of cultural values by describing the characteristics of Shantou dialect,and exploring the local culture of Chaozhou-Shantou area.Article consists of 5 parts:1.introduction,which Focused on the content, significance, methods and processes of this paper;and introduces related literature.At the same time, Shantou dialect phonetic system is also introduced.2.the source of the Shantou dialect. Shantou dialect has a lot of ancient words, other dialects and loanwords. They included ancient loan words borrowed words and loanwords in modern times. Most modern borrowed words from English and Malay, a few from Thai and Netherlands language.3.the differences of Shantou dialect with Mandarin. These differents was discussed by different semantic differences and word-formation comparison. The results showed that the same meaning Shantou dialect system was different from Mandarin in Form of word formation and Word formation.4.Shantou dialect and regional culture. Combined with special culture of Religion,Diet,Ocean,Architecture,Going abroad for a living,this paper studied Shantou dialect.5.conclusions.
