Language is the carrier of culture, the combination of both can meet the requirement of teaching Chinese at present stage. Cultural word is a kind of special word in Chinese, which is a linguistic element that carries a lot of cultural informations, reflecting the unique cultural connotations of Chinese nation. So the teaching of cultural words realizes the unification of language and culture. Textbook is a foundation of teaching. Without the textbook, we can not get a better teaching of cultural word. With the reasonable arrangement of cultural words, the cultural factors will infiltrate into textbooks and each stages of teaching, improving learners’ language competence and cultural level. However, the research about the combination of cultural words and textbooks is few, and the specialized research about cultural words in the same set of textbooks is fewer. So, this paper takes the cultural words in the comprehensive series of <Developing Chinese> as object, from the quantitative statistics, type statistics, comparative statistics with lexical syllabus, and the analysis of presentation mode, to summarize the distribution and main features of cultural words in textbooks, and then according to teaching practice, the writer illustrates how the teachers should do for teaching cultural words on these textbooks. From the questions found in teaching process, the writer summarizes the shortages of textbooks for the arrangement of cultural words, and put forward the corresponding suggestions.
