Nowadays, weak grammar knowledge and poor language expression abilities havebecome more obvious between middle school and college students. There is no doubt that“desalinating grammar teaching” has greatly contributed to this problem since1990s. It isso urgent to improve students’ language abilities. Therefore, it requires that we should notdesalinate grammar teaching but strengthen and improve grammar teaching efficiency in allaspects.The thesis tries to employ contrast between English and Chinese to teach grammar sothat it can reduce students’ understanding of boring grammar rules, let students truly mastergrammars and achieve teaching purposes. Meanwhile, teachers should improve grammarteaching interestingness to attract students’ interest in learning grammars.Besides introduction and conclusion, the thesis also includes four chapters:The first chapter reviews the history and current situation of Chinese grammar teachingin middle schools. Grammar teaching is playing an important role in Chinese teaching.However, it has been gradually faded since1990s and this desalination mainly represents incurriculum standards, textbooks, exams and class teaching and so on. It takes manydisadvantages to desalinate grammar in Chinese teaching, for example, it is not beneficial toChinese and other subjects’ studies and not conductive to cultivating students’ interpersonalskills. Based on these disadvantages, it is so necessary to teach grammars in Chinese teaching.The second chapter discusses the possibilities of applying Chinese and English contrastin high school Chinese grammar teaching. First and foremost, Chinese and English havecertain connectivity, which is the premise of Chinese and English contrast. Next, Englishholds a special and important position in high school curriculums. What’s more, students havealready understood English grammars better. It is the solid foundation to compare these twolanguages so that it can promote mutually in grammar teaching.The third chapter analyzes similarities and differences of Chinese and English. And itdemonstrates that applying comparison between Chinese and English is able to improveChinese teaching efficiency in theories. This chapter exemplifies some contrast instances ofthese two languages, not only including comparison in vocabularies and sentence patterns and so on, but also including general characteristics contrast of two languages.The fourth chapter introduces actual situations of applying Chinese and English contrastin high school Chinese grammar teaching class. From the author’s classroom practice point ofview, the application produces positive effects. But there are some unexpected problems.Based on these problems, the chapter also presents improving methods.To sum up, the thesis attempts to explore effective ways of grammar teaching from a newperspective so that let teachers teach more easily, students are easy to learn and make somecontributions for grammar teaching to rise again. More hopefully, it can attract authorities’attentions in grammar teaching and explore new approaches for grammar teaching.
