Since multi-media technology has been introduced into primary school, more and more teachers use it in English teaching. As is known, once a technology is introduced into a field, this field might change a great deal. Therefore, when multi-media technology enters foreign language class, changes would take place in many aspects, such as information delivery, forms of class activities, teaching process, teaching structure, and even teaching concept.This research is done around the following three questions with regards to the integration of multi-media technology and primary school English teaching. Firstly, whether the multi-media technology is able to improve the efficiency and effect of English teaching; secondly, how to integrate multi-media technology and primary school English teaching effectively; thirdly, what other new forms of multi-media technology are that can help in primary English teaching.To answer these questions, this thesis reviews the application and study of multi-media technology in English teaching from home and abroad and elaborates theoretical foundation of the research, which can be of great help to the study. A more systematic and comprehensive understanding of the integration of multi-media technology and primary school English teaching has been reached through the experiment on two classes of Grade five, the questionnaires for students and interviews with teachers. The thesis explores the principles and gives an example of the integration; moreover, it introduces the changes to take in the integration. In the thesis, new forms of multi-media technology is also introduced, which gives a glimpse of the outlook of the integration of multi-media technology into primary school English teaching.The thesis aims to draw attention to the integration of multi-media technology into primary school English teaching and find out how the two can work better in creating a more real and interesting English learning environment, and to make students the master of their study and enable them to enjoy the fun that English learning brings.
