As we all know, football is a sport where two teams are competing on the same field. And competition of high-intensity can be seen everywhere through the game. The more intense the competition is on the field, the faster the offense and defense rotate, and the fiercer the tackling becomes. The successful employment of football techniques, including pass, dribbling, goalkeeper’s catching, shooting, as well as defense, requires a good physical condition, of which speed is a key factor, of a football player. Currently, there is no authoritative method of speed training in the field of youth football. Much space is left for the improvement for the speed training of the youth football player and we shall make best use of their age advantage, since the years before13is a sensitive period for the development of speed. This article uses Beijing Guoan Football Club U13players as objects. They were divided into experimental group and control group and each group has7players. The experimental group used football for the speed training while the control group was trained using the traditional methods where no football is used. The experiment lasted12weeks. This article analyzed the data of the two groups from the experiment respectively before and after the experiment and has reached the following conclusions:6.1.1The speed training experiment showed that players of experimental group have improved significantly in all the7tests while the ones of control group have improved significantly only in the two tests. The fact that the players of experimental group have performed to a larger extent than the players of controlling group in all of the items proves that the training method of experiment group is better than that of the controlling group.6.1.2Players of experimental group have improved significantly in10m shuttle run dribble ","8dribble run","choose-react-move (with the ball)," movement speed test" while the players of control group have not improved significantly in those four tests. The results illustrate the speed training method in the experimental group, compared with traditional training method is better to improve players’the displacement speed with the ball, reaction speed with the ball and the movement speed.6.1.3Speed training with the ball is based on the traditional training methods, and the two training methods are complementary to each other. Players of the control group have improved significantly in the "20meters start running" and "chose-react-act(without the ball), so we can not ignore the importance of traditional speed training methods.6.1.4Experimental group has employed the speed training method with the ball, which could improve player’s speed as well as their football techniques. Besides, all the trainings in the experimental group involve competition and confrontation which to some extent could improve players passion and ability to focus. Speed training with football involving competition and confrontation complies with the features and rules of football speed training.
