As urbanization develops, urban population dilates promptly and urban land expands rapidly in China, but such rapid expansion of cities is posing formidable challenges to the eco-environment. Ecosystem service is the material base and natural capital of human sustainable development. Evaluating the ecosystem service value(ESV) is helpful to realize the importance of natural ecosystem to human welfare. Therefore it is critical to recognize the impact of land conversion on the change of ESV. and the relationship between the change of ESV and the economic development to realize the sustainable development of the urbanization. The thesis started from the impact of land conversion on ESV. It based on the research of Costanza et al(1997). Then, we take the regions of Xiamen as a research case. Our results indicated that(1) Under the current land management system in China, when transfer the land in the urbanization process if the decision makers consider the ecological attribute of land, the net loss of social welfare could be decreased. It can be recognize as the ecology value of land.(2) During 2002-2012, Urbanization of Xiamen caused the great changes in the pattern of land; it directly leads the ESV to presents downward trend after rising first. Economic development has significant effects on ESV.(3) There was a reverse relationship of total ESV and GDP in Xiamen and the positive effects of green GDP in 2003-2012 was high. The thesis considers the ecological attribute of land and points out the importance and necessity to protect the wetland, forest, farmland and so on in Xiamen. It also analyses the relationship between ESV and the green GDP and emphasis on the harmonious development between ecological environment and urbanization. This study provides a new perspective for the harmonious development of urbanization and ecology.
