A series of studies were did for the physiological and physical characteristics of human foot in both static and dynamic states, with the purpose of designing running socks with high performances in structure and function. The design proposal was performed by following processes:1) Got a general knowledge of motion features and injury types of running foot by documentation method.2) Analyzed foot changing characteristics of muscles, joints, plantar pressure and skin temperature during running by reading articles.3) Measured physical changes of foot in different positions by measuring grid length of subjects' lower limbs, and bigger length changes during extension and compression were found in tibia-astragalus joint and both sides of Achilles's tendon.4) Examined the temperature and humidity changes of running foot and made partition by experiments. As a result, outside planta had lower temperature and humidity than medial planta, in which the front and middle sides had the highest skin temperature and humidity. 5) Physiological and physical characteristics of running foot were combined with basic pattern to design and product high-performance running socks.6) Verified if the new running socks can meet the needs of comfort, moisture absorption, sweat releasing, muscle stabilization and decreased athletic injury by subjective assessment.
