Objective:To realize if there is a correlation between IL-6 gene-174G/C,-572C/G and -597G/A polymorphism and the susceptibility to AF among Uyghur and Han population in Xinjiang.Methods:103 Uygur and 102 Han patients with AF and 100 Uygur and 111 Han healthy subjects were examined for interleukin-6 gene -174G/C、-572C/G and -597G/A polymorphisms using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP).Results:IL-6-174G/C SNP GG and GC genotypes in both Uygur and Han population, there was no statistical difference between atrial fibrillation group and control group(P>0.05).IL-6-572C/G SNP CC and CG genotypes in the Han population, there was a statistical difference between atrial fibrillation group and control group(P<0.05).IL-6-597G/A GG、GA、AA genotypes in Uygur population there was no statistical difference between atrial fibrillation group and control group(P>0.05).Conclusions:IL-6-174G/C SNP GG and GC genotypes in both the Uygur and Han population shows less correlation with AF;-572C/G polymorphism may be one of the predisposing factor of AF; The correlation between -597G/A polymorphism and occurrence of AF may show nationality difference.
