Objective To explore the the effects of type 2 diabetes on muscle function, strength skeletal muscle content and the association with sarcopenia, the content of skeletal muscle mass, grip strength and pace in patients with type 2 diabetes were measured. To explore the influencing factors of type 2 diabetes complicated with muscular disease, the case histories of type 2 diabetes patients were collated and analysised. Methods In the case of informed consent, the type 2 diabetic patients admitted to the Department of Endocrinology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning Medical University from March 2015 to December were selected as type 2 diabetes group. The general population individuals matched with diabetes in age,sex and BMI during the same period of physical examination were choosed as control group The age of all subjects ranged from 40 to 80 years and the number of samples in each group was 194 cases(male: 92,female 102).On the day of admission the height and weight were measured in accordance with the Method of human body measurement. The skeletal muscle content in limbs, trunk and body were measured using bioelectrical impedance. The grip strength were measured according to ASHT standard grip Guide and the pace were measured with a stopwatch. The history of disease course, smoking, drinking and other clinical cases of type 2 diabetes patients were collected and sorted out.The sarcopenia was diagnosed according to the methods in the European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People.Statistical analysis was performed using t-test,chi-square test and logistic regression with SPSS20.0 software. Results 1.The trunk muscle content of male in type 2 diabetes group was lower than that of control group(P < 0.05),The muscle content of other parts had no difference. There was also no difference in total muscle content of female, the trunk muscle in type 2 diabetes was lower than that of control group(P < 0.05),The muscles content in left upper limb, left leg, right upper limb and the right leg in type 2 diabetes group were lower than that of control group(P < 0.05).2.The skeletal muscle index in type 2 diabetes(male: 8.28 ± 0.97Kg/m2,Female: 6.38±0.75Kg/m2)were lower than that of control group(male: 8.83±1.11Kg/m2,Female: 6.66±0.67Kg/m2)(P <0.01).The right grip strength in type 2 diabetes(male: 38.43±10.33 Kg,female: 19.80±6.33Kg)were lower than that in control group(male: 41.43±7.56 Kg,female: 23.51±4.55Kg)(P <0.01).The pace of type 2 diabetes(male: 0.90±0.17m/s,female: 0.90±0.18m/s)were also lower than that of the control group(male: 0.95±0.12m/s,female: 0.98±0.11m/s)(P <0.01).3.The adult grip standard value: 43.81 ± 3.24 Kg,female: 27.27 ± 3.51 Kg in Jinzhou.4.The sarcopenia risk of male in the type 2 diabetes group is 3.2 times higher than that in control group, the sarcopenia risk of female the in type 2 diabetes group is 4.3 times higher than that in control group. In general, the sarcopenia risk in type 2 diabetes was 3.7 times higher to the control group.5.The morbidity of sarcopenia in male in type 2 diabetes group(22.8%)was significantly higher than that in control group(10.9%)(χ2 = 4.69,P = 0.03);The morbidity of sarcopenia in female in type 2 diabetes group(22.5%)was also significantly higher than that that in control group(9.8%)(χ2 = 6.11,P = 0.02).Either in type 2 diabetes group(male: χ2=19.54,P=0.00;female: χ2=9.31,P=0.02)or control group(male: χ2=15.88,P=0.001,female: χ2=10.78,P=0.01)the morbidity of sarcopenia had age difference. With the age increasing, the morbidity of sarcopenia were also increased.6.Age,complications and aerobic exercise were the influencing factors of type 2 diabetes patients with sarcopenia(P<0.05).Aerobic exercise was a protective factor. Conclusions 1.Type 2 diabetes is a risk factor for the onset of sarcopenia.2.Patients with type 2 diabetes can prevent sarcopenia by continuous aerobic exercise.
