| Objective: To investigate and analyze the plasma secreted frizzled-related protein 5(SFRP5)level in T2 DM and Carotid Atherosclerosis subjects and explore the relationships among with other anthropometric and biochemical parameters.Methods: The 56 type 2 diabetes patients were included in the experiment,and according to carotid intima-media thickness(IMT)we divide them into carotid atherosclerosis group(group AS,IMT≥1.0mm,28cases)and non-carotid atherosclerosis group(NAS group,28 cases).Meanwhile we recruit the same period normal glucose tolerance population(NGT group,28 cases).Enzyme linked immune-sorbent assay(ELISA)was used to measure fasting serum SFRP5 concentration,other clinical and laboratory parameters were also measured.We use the SPSS 19 software to analyze our data :we compared the data between two groups using two samples t test and analyze the related factors of carotid atherosclerosis in a variety of single factor analysis and multivariate stepwise Logistic regression analysis,the correlation between serum SFRP5 and clinical indexes were evaluated by Person correlation analysis,multiple linear stepwise regression analysis,P <0.05 indicate the difference was statistical significance.Results: the serum concentration of SFRP5 in T2 DM patients is lower than N GT group(46.04 ± 10.31 vs 114.36 ± 25.48 pg / ml,P <0.01),the difference of concentration o f serum SFRP5 in AS and NAS group share no statistical significance(AS Group: 43.88±8.19pg/ml,NAS group: 48.19±11.82pg/ml,P>0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that serum SFRP5 concentration is negatively correlated with Age,HSC RP,FPG,FINS,HOMA-IR,Hb A1 C,LDL-C,TG,BMI(r <0,P <0.01),and positively correlated with HDL-C(r> 0,P <0.01),but no significant correlation with gender,TC,systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP)(P> 0.05).Multivariate stepwise Logistic regression analysis showed that Age,TC and HSC RP were independent risk factors for carotid artery disease.Multiple linear regression results show that: after out of a variety of factors which can influence each other,Age,FINS,Hb A1 C remains a negatively correlation with serum SFRP5 concentrations(βis-0.814,-1.451,-6.284,respectively).Conclusions: Serum concentrations of SFRP5 in T2 DM patients is lower than normal control group,SFRP5 may be a protective factor for type 2 diabetes and ameliorate insulin resistance.Synthesis of this protein may delay or reverse the occurrence and progression of T2 DM,and provide a new method for prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes. |
