This translation project report is an excerpt from the introduction of 3D Printing in Space. 3D Printing in Space is a typical technological text, which aims to serve the individuals who are interested in the history and development process of 3D printing. The language of this book is concise and objective, presenting features of technological texts. The theoretical consideration of this report is based on Vermeer' Skopos theory. The report, taking a part of the translation version as a case, focuses on selecting appropriate translation strategies and methods for the project in light of the language characteristics of the technological texts. The report, in detail, discusses and analyzes the translation of passive voice, the use of nominalization and the translation of proper nouns and terminologies in the translation process. At last, based on the analysis above, the thesis makes a conclusion and confirms the importance of Skopos theory on the translation of technological texts.In order to explain the process of translation, this paper provides a detailed analysis of Chinese version of introduction of 3D Printing in Space, from the perspective of Skopos theory including the following five parts. Firstly, it provides a brief introduction to the project. In the second place, the report explains the translation process and analyzes the original text. Thirdly, analysis of Skopos theory as well as theories on text type are introduced, which explores the internal relationship of Skopos theory. The fourth part is the main body of the report which provides a detailed analysis of Chinese version of introduction of 3D Printing in Space, presenting the translation difficulties and translation strategies and methods utilized particularly in light of the Skopos theory. Besides, in the end, a conclusion of the report is made to describe the study and its limitations.
