Indonesia has the biggest Chinese descent population in the world.Along with the increasing of Chinese language popularity in the whole world,the desire for Chinese descents to learn well the language also gets stronger.Chinese learning in full time school is limited,therefore Chinese cram school has became one of Chinese language Institute that creates a lot of impact these days drawing a lot of Chinese and non Chinese descents to learn the language.Worth it to pay attention is we could not even see the advantage of being Indonesian Chinese descents in speaking area since their family are no longer using Chinese language.Writer mainly chose elementary level students in Chinese cram school in Indonesia as research target.Cram school has different characteristic from full time school;with regard to education system,there is only 3-5 hours lesson time every week and only designed for comprehensive class(class specified for listening,writing etc are not available),lack of contact with the Chinese environment outside classroom.As a result,the education result and teacher student expectation gap is quite large,language skill in all aspects are difficult to improve especially in speaking aspect.Oral teaching in teaching Chinese holds a very important role.At the same time,elementary level is very important preliminary stage,can impact learners’ future of Chinese learning.During internship period,writers in Jakarta Mandarin Expert School carried out research and on the spot teaching.“Jakarta Mandarin Expert School” has 8 branches spread over the capital city.Therefore this investigation analysis from limited scope can observe huge range,which able to be a research representative for the whole city.In language world there is this saying “Listening Speaking In The Lead” strategy.Speaking main purpose is to improve the students expression level.However in the real situation in Indonesia speaking is the hardest difficulty to overcome generally appear as “Mute Chinese”;the worst that might happen is students are not able to speak out fluently,they then feel burdened and eventually abandon their Chinese studies.Therefore this paper utilizes questionnaire,interview,and observation as methods to carry out overall research to elementary level students and collected firsthand data.During the internship period,writers aim at the exist problems carried out teaching trial and research.This thesis is divided into 5 sections,the main chapters are listed below:First section is introduction,introduces research background,consist of the development state of Chinese education in Indonesia and current situation of Chinese cram school.The section also explains thesis purpose and meaning,research targets and methods.Second section is about Teaching Oral Chinese Literature.The chapter provides the theory foundation that research refer to.Third section is Teaching Oral Chinese Investigation Research and Analysis.Both from teacher teaching aspect and students demand aspect;Through this research we understand both teacher and students real condition,in and out Cram school class teaching characters and lacking points.Fourth section is about the teaching design for cram school,its impact and result analysis.This part is the main part of the thesis.Based on the research that has been done before,this chapter provides teaching plan for the research target,teaching plan implementation,and result observation..Fifth section is suggestions for the oral Chinese Teaching aim to Chinese cram school.Through the teaching design and research analysis,several suggestions obtain.Last part is conclusion,it sums up thesis main point of view including innovation and limitation.
