The Study On The Adverbs In Yanshi Dialect Of Henan Province

Yanshi is located in the Midwest of Henan Province and is a subordinate city of Luoyang City.According to the Linguistic Atlas of Chinese Dialects,Yanshi dialect serves as the part of Luosong dialect in Zhongyuan Mandarin.This thesis collects corpora by using field surveys,classifies and describes the adverb system of Yanshi dialect,which is taken as the research object.The thesis strives to demonstrate the local dialects truly and accurately.The thesis can be divided into four parts.Part I servers as the Introduction,covering the geography and phonology of Yanshi City,and the explanation of the origin and status quo of the selected topic of the thesis.It also analyzes the methods of determining the adverbs in the text and the classification methods of the adverbs.Part II is the body part of the thesis,consists of two chapters.Chapter II mainly describes the adverbs of the Yanshi dialects and classifies them into frequency adverbs,time adverbs,negative adverbs,degree adverbs,range adverbs,situational adverbs,and modal adverbs.Based on Xing Fuyi’s method of “small triangle”,the author describes deeply the characteristic adverbs from the three dimensions of syntax,semantics,and pragmatics,and reveals the differences between Mandarin and other dialects.Among them,8 frequency adverbs,15 time adverbs(including a small number of adverbial phrases),10 degree adverbs,4 range adverbs,4 negative adverbs,9 situational adverbs,and 13 mood adverbs are analyzed in detail.During the process of describing,the thesis puts more emphasis on their syntactical contexts,grammatical meanings,semantic contents and the pragmatic environment,aims to illustrate their particularities.Chapter III mainly compares the same adverbs inYanshi dialect with the Qilu Deng.This chapter explores diachronically the adverbs inherited from the Qilu Deng in the Yanshi dialect,their similarities and differences in meanings,and studies whether their semantics change.Chapter IV functions as the conclusion of the thesis.This chapter mainly summarizes the content of the whole thesis.
