Xinxiang county is located in the northern part of Henan, immigrants of Shanxi in the early Ming Dynasty brought Jin language with typical feature of some read words into sound. From the existing dialects, the dialect of Xinxiang is basicly classfied into the Jin dialect. However, the deep phonetic research on the area was very rare.In existing reseaches, the Xinxiang dialect has hardly been compared with Jin dialect and Central Plains Mandarin. The contact characteristics of Xinxiang dialect also has been unsuccessfully further revealed,so that there is the lack of understanding characteristics in the language. In the paper,on the basis of the field survey of Xinxiang dialect, the phonetic system of the Xinxiang dialect was detailedly described. With the comparison between the phonetic system of the Xinxiang dialect and ancient Chinese phonology, selecting dialects of Jincheng and Changzhi in Shanxi,Huojia and Zhengzhou in Henan, which were provenances of Xinxiang county population,to synchronicly compare, the characteristics in the dialect of Xinxiang County were investigated from synchronic comparison and diachronic and synchronic dimension. At the same time, voices from six towns and a village in Xinxiang were compared,on the basis of which,Xinxiang dialects were devided reasonably. On the above basis,Xinxiang dialect was reasonably divided,to discuss ownership of dialects in Xinxiang county. There were seven parts in this paper:In the introduction, the geographical, historical and cultural situation of Xinxiang County was included. The dialect contact, the research status of the dialect voice in the Xinxiang County and the surrounding areas,as well as the reseach content, reseach method, and reseach value in the topic Xinxiang were introduced. From the first chapter to the fifth chapter were the main part of this paper. In the first chapter, the phonetic system of the dialect in Xinxiang was described detailedly. In the dialect of Xinxiang, there were 26 consonants,43 vowels and 5 tones. In the second chapter, the dialect of Xinxiang and mediaeval Chinese of "Guangyun" were compared.Through comparing consonants, vowels and tones, characteristics of the historical evolution of of the phonology of Xinxiang dialect were analyzed, which included the combination separataion between ancient voice and modern voice, the source of the entering tones and the present tone, and the differentiation of archaic Chinese tonymes. In the third chapter, dialects of Jincheng and Changzhi in Shanxi,Huojia and Zhengzhou in Henan, which are provenances of Xinxiang county population were synchronicly compared.Itsphonetic features were analyzed in close or distant way.It was found that the phonology in Xinxiang dialect was closer to the Zhengkaipian in the Central Plains Mandarin. In the fourth chapter, different ways of literary and colloquial readingXinxiang dialect were summarized. And it was compared with the Jin language in Shanxi and Zhengkaipian in the Central Plains Mandarin. It was found that the different literary and colloquial reading in Xinxiang dialect was highly consistent with that in Zhengkaipian in the Central Plains Mandarin. The phenomenon of deviding vowels with different tones in Xinxiang dialect was described detailedly. It was found that the phenomenon existed in six towns and a village in Xinxiang County except Guguzhai. It was thought that local deviding vowels with different tones was from the dual functions of language development and language contact. In the fifth chapter, according to the phonetic difference of Xinxiang dialect,it was divided internally. The ascription of Xinxiang dialect, etc, was analyzed. In the conclusion, the phonological features of Xinxiang dialect were summarized, and the shortcomings of this study were pointed out finally.
