Transfer is the influence of one kind of study on another, that is,the interaction between already acquired knowledge, skills, emotions, attitudes, and new learning. When teaching English in junior high schools,Chinese,as students' mother tongue, will inevitably have some impact on English education and study, including positive and negative transfers.Grammar teaching plays an important role in the study of English. In order to learn English well, students must master English grammar first. However,in second language acquisition, learners tend to be influenced by the grammatical structure of their mother tongue. This influence of the native mother tongue can sometimes help English students to learn grammar, and sometimes,it hinders the understanding of English students. In order to explore the role Chinese plays in English acquisition and to propose some suggestions and implications to promote English grammar teaching, this paper analyzes the phenomena of Chinese language transfer on English grammar teaching in junior high schools.Based on the Transfer Theory,Contrastive Analysis Theory, and Error Analysis Theory, this study tries to answer the following three specific questions:1.What is the proportion of Chinese participation in junior high school English grammar teaching?2.What is the correlation coefficient between junior high school students' English and Chinese achievements?3.What are the Chinese transfer phenomena in the junior high schools' English grammar teaching? The research methods of this study include questionnaires, data analysis, and text analysis.First of all, students from Zhang Gong Middle School in Ganzhou City are surveyed by questionnaires. The questionnaire contains 10 questions and all of the questions are about the role of Chinese on English grammar education in junior high schools.Secondly, the students' English and Chinese achievements are collected and recorded.Then,SPSS20.0 software is used to process the data and analyze the correlation between English and Chinese achievements,so as to find the relationship between Chinese and English study. Finally, there is a contrastive analysis between English andChinese textbooks. The positive and negative transfer of Chinese grammar on English grammar teaching in junior high schools are found through the comparison of English and Chinese grammar.According to the Error Analysis Theory, this study classifies and summarizes the students' grammatical errors, and makes some suggestions for the sake of promoting English grammar teaching in junior high schools. The results of the questionnaire show that Chinese plays a very important role In the aspect of the students' English learning.Students learn English words with the help of Chinese explanations. Many students think that Chinese is good for their English learning.Chinese is often involved in English teaching, especially in grammar education. However,Chinese negative transfer cannot be denied. Most students lack English thinking because they still use Chinese thinking to create English language. From the results of the data analysis,we can see that the correlation coefficients between Chinese and English achievement are very high. This indicates that the correlation between Chinese and English achievement is very significant.
